Friends of the Eastern Sierra Gardens

The goals of the Friends of the Garden are: to create and maintain demonstration gardens to serve as an educational tool for local residents to learn about best practices of gardening; and to create a healthier community by provided spaces for residents to garden and grow fresh, local food.

Additionally, the educational  demonstration garden will empower persons to plant at home and be more productive in their yield, allowing for increased consumption of fresh produce, which will improve the health of the local community.

There is a symbiotic relationship between the Garden and other UMSS programs. Produce from the Garden is donated to feed persons at the Soup Kitchen, and raised beds offer opportunities to garden for the participants of Independent Living.

The Garden is located at the Bishop City Park, behind Sterling Heights.
